The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, which covers topics such as food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, education, and more.
The release of this data provides updated insights into the socioeconomic conditions of households across the nation. The information is intended to help federal agencies monitor trends and address operational or policy needs based on current household experiences.
According to the Census Bureau, about 30,000 households participated in the survey in April 2025. The collected data allows for analysis at both national levels and within smaller geographic areas defined by the agency.
Users can access the HTOPS dataset as a public-use file to create their own customized tables. Additional data collected later in 2025 is expected to be released in coming months.
HTOPS is described as an experimental product that collects information every other month on both core topics—such as health or employment—and rotating subjects designed to reflect changing conditions facing U.S. households.
