Tallahassee Police arrest suspect in fatal Magnolia Court Apartments shooting

On December 4, 2025, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a shooting at Magnolia Court Apartments around 2:15 p.m. Officers found an adult woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was transported to a local hospital but died from her injuries.

Detectives from the department’s Violent Crimes Unit determined that Anthony Holley Jr., who was in an ongoing relationship with the victim, was handling an AR-15–style rifle when it discharged. According to police, Holley pointed the firearm toward the victim and a small child she was holding. The child was not injured.

Holley left the scene after the incident. Police located him within hours and recovered a firearm matching witness descriptions near where he was found. He was arrested without incident.

“This arrest is a testament to TPD’s ongoing commitment to seeking justice and holding violent offenders accountable,” stated the Tallahassee Police Department in its release.

Anthony Holley Jr., age 22, faces charges of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.
