Residents of Tallahassee are invited to attend The Longest Table, a community event organized by the City of Tallahassee. The event will take place on Sunday, October 12, from 5:30 p.m. until sunset along Duval Street between St. Augustine and Jefferson streets. Participation is free, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP through the city’s website.
Mayor John Dailey commented on the significance of the gathering, stating, “For over 200 years, Tallahassee has been a place where neighbors come together to shape the future we share. The Longest Table reflects our long-held tradition of unity and collaboration, while celebrating our recent honor as a three-time winner of the coveted All-America City title.”
Earlier this year, in June, Tallahassee received the 2025 All-America City designation from the National Civic League. This recognition was awarded for the city’s commitment to innovative and inclusive community engagement practices that aim to strengthen connections among residents.
Several local initiatives contributed to this national honor, including the Southside Action Plan, Clean Energy Plan, and the 100-Parks initiative. These programs were noted for their emphasis on partnership and public dialogue.
The Longest Table event is designed to bring together people from different backgrounds over a shared meal in order to encourage understanding within the community. According to organizers, both The Longest Table and the All-America City award reflect a belief in listening to diverse voices as an important part of making progress.
The city encourages residents interested in attending or learning more about The Longest Table event to visit Talgov.com/LongestTable for details and updates.
