This afternoon, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a house fire on Watersview Drive after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from a single-story home. The incident occurred at approximately 2:38 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. They entered the building and located a fire in the kitchen that had started to spread into the attic. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames, limiting most of the damage to the kitchen and part of the attic.
A search of the home confirmed that no people were inside at the time of the fire. Firefighters found two dogs during their operations and safely removed them from the property. Both animals received oxygen with pet oxygen masks.
The Tallahassee Fire Department continued work at the scene to put out any remaining hot spots and prevent further fire spread. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Other agencies assisting at the scene included the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS, City of Tallahassee Animal Control, and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
