On January 21, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Keith Street around 12:45 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from an occupied house and quickly entered with hose lines. The fire was located in the kitchen and extinguished within minutes.

All residents were confirmed to be safely out of the home after primary and secondary searches. Two people were displaced as a result of the incident. Authorities believe the fire was accidental.

Units from Stations 1, 3, and 4 responded to the scene. The Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities, and Leon County EMS assisted during the response. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide help for those displaced.

“Kitchen fires are a leading cause of home fires nationwide,” according to information provided by TFD. The department encourages residents to follow them on social media or visit Talgov.com/Fire for more fire safety tips.
