On September 23, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 4000 block of Center Drive at approximately 8:20 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from the rear of a single-story home. Crews entered the building and brought the fire under control while also searching the structure to confirm that no one was inside at the time.
After extinguishing the main fire, firefighters checked for any further spread to ensure it was fully out. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Personnel from Stations 1, 3, and 4 were involved in the response. Additional support came from City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and Woodville Volunteer Fire Department. The Red Cross was contacted to help assist residents affected by the incident.
The Tallahassee Fire Department issued a reminder for all residents to maintain working smoke alarms on every level of their homes and regularly practice fire escape plans. “Early fire detection and preparation saves lives,” according to TFD.
