On December 22, 2025, the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Ford Street. The call came in at approximately 12:30 a.m., and crews from Stations 1 and 2 arrived on scene in under five minutes. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire at the front of the residence.

Firefighters began a defensive attack, using hose lines and a deck gun to deliver large amounts of water. The fire was brought under control soon after their arrival. Afterward, it was confirmed that the home was vacant, with no people or pets inside during the incident.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by TFD’s Fire Prevention Division in cooperation with the State Fire Investigator.

TFD received assistance at the scene from the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS, and City of Tallahassee Utilities. Units responding included Battalion 1 and 2, Engine 1, Engine 101, Truck 1, FM 1, and Engine 2.

This event represents the tenth residential structure fire reported in December. As part of TFD’s Keep the Wreath Green initiative, one more green bulb on their wreath will be replaced with a red one to signify this incident.
