The State University System of Florida announced that several of its universities have been recognized in the 2025 College Guide and Rankings by Washington Monthly. The rankings evaluate colleges based on their impact for students and the economy, with a focus on access, affordability, and student outcomes.

Ray Rodrigues, Chancellor of the State University System of Florida, said, “This year, Florida’s universities are once again recognized as world-class institutions. The Washington Monthly rankings point to key strategies that make our institutions national leaders in higher education: low-cost, high-value degrees, a focus on ensuring students have clear, immediate pathways to careers or continued education, and merit-based aid that supports high-achieving students in reaching their higher education goals. Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, we have prioritized quality education over indoctrination, holding our universities to the highest standards in every aspect, from curriculum to faculty, so that students and their families can feel confident in their decision to join the best State University System in the nation.”

Two universities—University of Central Florida and Florida Atlantic University—were listed among the top 25 Best-in-Class Colleges nationwide.

In regional rankings for value and affordability (Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: Southeast), ten SUS institutions were included. Florida International University ranked first; University of Central Florida was second; New College of Florida was third; and other state schools appeared throughout the top 50.

Several universities also received recognition for providing good returns on tuition investment (Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars), with four SUS schools placed among the top 40 nationally.

Additional honors went to individual institutions for research output and liberal arts programs. The University of Florida was named among the top 30 Best Colleges for Research. Other state universities were included in various categories such as Liberal Arts Colleges and Master’s Universities.
