Insurance Rate Review has released an analysis focused on the third quarter for North Florida homeowners insurers. The report finds that Kin Insurance combines strong growth with high customer ratings, while several fast-growing carriers have received weaker reviews.

According to Insurance Rate Reporter data, there are disparities between rapid policy growth and customer satisfaction among North Florida insurers. Universal Property & Casualty added 5,030 new policies but holds a 3.2-star Google rating from approximately 2,790 reviews. Meanwhile, Manatee Insurance Exchange expanded quickly despite a 1.4-star rating from 12 reviewers. Kin maintains a 4.7-star rating supported by more than 7,700 reviews, illustrating that larger review samples can reveal performance differences that growth figures alone do not.

Florida’s third-quarter policy growth data indicate that carriers adding substantial policy volume often have average or poor customer ratings. Slide and Manatee each added 4,360 new policies, with ratings of 3.6 stars and 1.4 stars, respectively. Edison added 7,941 policies but holds a 2.2-star rating. Kin’s addition of 7,385 new policies and its 4.7-star rating show a rare alignment of growth with consistently positive customer experience.

Ratings data collected by Insurance Rate Reporter demonstrate that growth among Florida insurers does not necessarily correspond with customer satisfaction. Edison Insurance Company holds a 2.2-star Google rating from 119 reviews, highlighting challenges in service quality despite high policy volumes. By contrast, Kin’s Google rating indicates not only higher satisfaction but also greater reliability of the rating due to its substantially larger review base.

Kin describes its approach as rebuilding home insurance for a changing world, offering customers a choice between a do-it-yourself online experience and support from licensed agents. Founded in 2016, the company reports more than 240,000 policies bound and over 750 employees nationwide. Its carrier partners, Kin Interinsurance Network and Kin Interinsurance Nexus Exchange, have each earned a Financial Stability Rating of A (Exceptional) from Demotech and are supported by a panel of more than 40 reinsurers rated A- or better by AM Best or fully collateralized. Kin cites average customer savings of $989 and an average Net Promoter Score of 80.
