Chef Yasu Tanaka is set to open an eight-seat omakase counter, YASU Omakase, in the Miami Design District. The restaurant will occupy a 904-square-foot space at 151 Northeast 41st Street and is scheduled to open on Wednesday. Tanaka is collaborating with chef Raymond Li on the project, according to a statement from Spicy Hospitality Group, led by Andre Sakhai.
Spicy Hospitality previously launched Milanese trattoria Le Specialità in the same district late last year. The building housing YASU Omakase is owned by Miami Design District Associates, a partnership between Craig Robins’ Dacra, L Catterton Real Estate, and Brookfield.
In Wynwood, Kitchen + Kocktails By Kevin Kelley will open a Southern soul food restaurant this Saturday at 2838 Northwest Second Avenue. Kevin Kelley, a Dallas-based attorney, has already established six other locations in cities including Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The property is owned by Thor Equities of New York, led by Joseph Sitt.
Downtown Boca Raton’s mixed-use Aletto development will soon feature two new restaurants: Lebanese restaurant Amal and Italian fine-dining establishment Sofia. INK Entertainment—headed by Charles Khabouth and Danny Soberano—is behind both concepts. Amal has pre-leased 10,600 square feet while Sofia has taken 4,500 square feet at the site located at 119 East Palmetto Park Road. The Aletto project consists of two 10-story buildings with office, retail, and hospitality spaces totaling about 140,000 square feet. Compson Associates of Boca Raton partnered with North American Development Group and jeweler Alfredo Aletto for this development.
A seafood venue called FreshCo. Fish Market & Grill recently opened in Downtown Doral’s mixed-use complex at 8455 Northwest 53rd Street. Led by Mario Palazon of Key West, FreshCo also operates another location in Kendall. Codina Partners serves as master developer for Downtown Doral and plans to add a further 25,000 square feet of retail space there.
RFR Holding secured new leases totaling 42,000 square feet at its downtown Miami office tower at 100 Biscayne Boulevard. LVMH renewed its lease for five floors (34,000 square feet) for seven years; the company uses the space for Hublot and LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetic operations. Independence Pet Holdings leased an additional 8,000 square feet for ten years. Since acquiring the property in 2022 for $81.1 million,RFR has increased occupancy from 60 percent to 92 percent through deals with tenants such as The B100M & Shade chef collective.
Skyline Consulting Group signed a lease for 26,600 square feet at Genting’s office properties in Miami’s Arts & Entertainment District (1501 Biscayne Boulevard). This follows Skilled Trades College leasing approximately 30,000 square feet in the same building earlier this year.Genting purchased the site—formerly Omni Offices—in 2011 as part of a larger assemblage but did not secure casino licensing approval.
