Mayors in several cities across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee have declared December 12, 2025, as “Share the Warmth Day.” The proclamation aims to raise awareness and support for Piedmont Natural Gas’s Share the Warmth program, which assists residents who struggle to pay their energy bills.
The mayors of Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Wilmington (N.C.), Greenville (S.C.), and Nashville (Tenn.) issued proclamations in support of the initiative. Share the Warmth provides emergency funding for those needing help with energy costs throughout the year. The assistance is available regardless of whether customers use propane, electricity, or natural gas.
Brian Weisker, senior vice president and president of Piedmont Natural Gas, stated: “Piedmont’s Share the Warmth program has supported our most vulnerable neighbors since 2003. We chose December 12, or 12/12, as ‘Share the Warmth Day’ to remind us that for no more than $12 a year, each of us can make a meaningful difference. And if you need help today, Share the Warmth funds are available. Too many families face difficult choices when the weather turns cold. We want anyone who needs assistance with their energy bills to know: Piedmont is here to keep you warm and supported, all year long.”
Customers can contribute through Piedmont’s Round Up program by rounding up their monthly natural gas bill to the nearest dollar; all proceeds go directly to local nonprofit partners who distribute funds within their communities. Additional donations come from community members and a direct contribution from Piedmont itself.
Enrollment options include texting SHARE to 21209 (message and data rates may apply), visiting piedmontng.com/ShareTheWarmth for online enrollment or individual contributions by non-customers, filling out a form on billing statements, or calling Piedmont at 800.752.7504.
Piedmont Natural Gas serves over 1.2 million customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee as part of Duke Energy’s operations. More information about its programs can be found at piedmontng.com.
