KKR opens Brickell office as several firms sign new leases in Miami area

Global investment firm KKR opened a new office in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, the company announced on Mar. 30. The New York-based firm leased a permanent 6,500-square-foot space at 600 Brickell Avenue, relocating from its previous temporary location at 801 Brickell Avenue. According to KKR, the new office will focus on client and partner businesses, including institutional and family capital as well as private wealth clients in South Florida and Latin America.

Terrabank is moving its headquarters from Miami to Coral Gables after leasing 40,000 square feet across two floors and a banking center at 1 Alhambra Plaza. The bank will relocate from its current headquarters at 3191 Coral Way in Miami. The property was acquired last year by Tourmaline Capital Partners for $76 million after it underwent foreclosure proceedings.

The Inter-American Development Bank Group announced it is opening its first office outside of Washington, D.C., by leasing space in the Wells Fargo Center tower at 333 Southeast Second Avenue in downtown Miami. While the size of the lease has not been disclosed, IDB Group said this expansion aims to connect U.S. investors with opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Professional Spanish soccer club FC Barcelona is also relocating its North American headquarters from New York to downtown Miami by leasing a 2,400-square-foot space at One Biscayne Tower. This move adds to recent activity among soccer organizations establishing or expanding their presence in Miami-Dade County ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup.

Other notable leases include Reimagined Parking opening its first brick-and-mortar office; law firm Levey & Associates moving from Miami Beach; Drummond Advisors relocating from Brickell Key; Kirkwood shifting from Brickell; and renewals by Goldberg & Rosen law firm and global shipping company CMA CGM at One Biscayne Tower.

In addition, Fortec expanded its headquarters within the Brickell Arch building to accommodate growth following the launch of a $100 million fund for school development projects nationwide. Posh Life Pilates opened a studio at River Landing Shops & Residences complex while The Canopy in Coconut Grove reached full occupancy with tenants such as Link Business School and Principia Global Capital.
