Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council and other delegates met in Savannah, Georgia, to discuss key political issues, including the recent government shutdown and strategies for increasing union voter turnout ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The meeting focused on how unions can strengthen their political influence in Georgia.

Later in the week, IAM International President Bryant delivered a keynote address at the Georgia State AFL-CIO convention. During these events, participants emphasized the significance of mobilizing union members to participate actively in upcoming elections.

The discussions come as unions across the state prepare for what is expected to be a competitive election cycle in 2026.
