Highlands County has introduced three new interactive digital kiosks aimed at improving the visitor experience and encouraging tourism across Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid. The kiosks have been installed in Sebring’s Circle Park, outside the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce at 28 Main Street, and at Journal Plaza in Lake Placid at 231 North Main Avenue.
The initiative is a collaborative effort among the Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the three cities to present Highlands County as a unified destination. “By the TDC and the three cities working together and showcasing Highlands County as one cohesive destination, we’re making it easier for visitors to discover our area events, activities, restaurants, hotels, and attractions,” said Highlands County Tourism Director Casey Hartt. “These kiosks help strengthen tourism throughout all three cities by encouraging visitors to see and do more during their stay, which ultimately boosts economic activity countywide.”
The project was first announced during the TDC’s Destination Unity Breakfast earlier this year. Over the past year, Visit Sebring worked with city officials to develop a platform that both highlights individual community features and encourages cross-county exploration.
Each kiosk provides touchscreen access to information about local dining options, accommodations, outdoor activities, cultural sites, and upcoming events. Although each device focuses on its host city’s offerings, they are designed to promote visits throughout all of Highlands County.
“Local businesses and organizations are featured in categories such as Food & Drink, Things to Do, Outdoors, and Accommodations so visitors can easily discover them,” Hartt said. “Users can also filter by preferences, such as cuisine, lodging style or city giving them a seamless way to explore and enjoy all three communities during their vacation to Highlands County.”
TrueOmni manufactured the kiosks with features including an itinerary builder that lets users save favorite spots and send personalized plans to their phones; an interactive event calendar listing festivals and other happenings across all three cities; maps with directions between attractions; and a digital photo booth for guests to share branded Visit Sebring photos.
The installation aligns with Visit Sebring’s mission of using technology and collaboration for destination development while promoting economic growth through tourism.
Tourism-related businesses interested in appearing on these kiosks are encouraged to review their listings on VisitSebring.com or contact info@visitsebring.com for updates or inclusion.
Visit Sebring serves as the destination marketing organization managed by the Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC), which works toward promoting tourism development while contributing positively to residents’ quality of life.
