When the holiday season arrives in Highlands County, Florida, communities in Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid host a series of events designed to bring residents and visitors together. The festivities include vintage train rides, parades, light displays, fun runs, and themed markets.
Sebring’s Circle Park will be central to many celebrations this year. The park recently underwent revitalization and was featured on HGTV’s Home Town Takeover. Until January 12, 2026, the Jacaranda Hotel in Avon Park will display classic holiday decorations and offer seasonal buffets. Throughout December and January, additional events are scheduled at the hotel.
From November 29 to December 25, Sebring’s Circle Park will feature the Carousel of Lights nightly from 6–9 p.m., with illuminated displays and photo opportunities. Santa Claus will appear each evening through December 24th. This year he is joined by the Grinch for photos and interactions in a dedicated “Grinch Gazebo.” On select weeknights at 7 p.m., artificial snow will transform the park into a winter scene.
Santa Express Holiday Train Rides will run on select dates between November 29 and December 21. Departing from Clewiston and Sebring, these rides feature decorated historic passenger cars with music and refreshments. Santa Claus boards midway through each trip to greet children.
Avon Park’s Christmas Parade takes place on December 1 at 7 p.m., followed by a tree lighting event and holiday market at Journal Plaza on December 2. Sebring’s “Candy Cane Lane” parade is scheduled for December 5 at 7 p.m., traveling through downtown areas.
The Alan Jay Wildstein Center will present “Flor de la Noche Buena,” a bilingual performance about the Mexican poinsettia legend, on December 7. Avon Park hosts its Christmas in the Park event on December 8 with vendors and performances by local children’s choirs.
On December 12, Avon Park holds its Jingle Bell Run 5K & Children’s Fun Run where participants are encouraged to wear festive attire. The Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club opens its drive-through holiday village on select dates in mid-December featuring vintage machinery and decorated buildings; donations benefit local charities.
Sebring’s Red Easel Craft & Fun Fair takes place on December 13 with vendors and activities for children alongside a community toy drive. That evening also features two parades: boats decorated with lights traverse Lake Jackson for the Sebring Christmas Boat Parade while Lake Placid hosts its annual parade themed “Gingerbread Lane,” where spectators can vote for their favorite entry.
Some events require tickets or admission fees while others are free to attend. Additional details are available via Visit Sebring’s events calendar or by contacting Tanya Churchmuch or Casey Hartt.
