CJ Morales, an accounting major at Florida State University, was highlighted on Mar. 31 for his leadership in academics and community service as he prepares to graduate in spring 2026.
Morales has served as chapter president of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, overseeing operations and acting as a liaison with its national organization. He also co-founded The Abuelos Foundation with his family after the passing of his grandmother in 2015. The foundation supports senior citizens through projects such as house painting and grocery shopping, raising an estimated $125,000 worth of groceries and contributing about 30,000 hours of community service by student volunteers over the past decade.
Morales said his experience at Florida State University has been key to his professional growth: “FSU has been instrumental in my professional growth, and I look forward to carrying the skills and insights I’ve gained into the next chapter of my life and career.”
He credits university resources for helping him secure a summer internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Miami, where he participated in tax case studies and pro bono client projects. Morales said mandatory classes and guest speakers from FSU’s Department of Accounting helped prepare him for this opportunity.
As philanthropy chair for Beta Theta Pi after joining in fall 2024, Morales organized events that combined community service with fundraising efforts. One event held during Halloween involved collaboration with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority; it attracted about 700 participants over three hours and raised $11,000 for multiple beneficiaries.
Looking ahead, Morales plans to return to FSU to earn a Master of Accounting degree while preparing for the CPA Exam over the next year-and-a-half. He intends to build expertise at PwC after graduation while continuing work with The Abuelos Foundation with hopes to expand its mission statewide or nationally.
