Florida State University’s School of Dance will present “An Evening of Dance,” a program featuring both contemporary and traditional works choreographed by faculty and guest artists. The performances, which involve FSU dance students, are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre in Montgomery Hall.
The event will showcase new pieces from nia love, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, and Baye and Asa. It also includes a re-staging of George Balanchine’s “Tempo di Valse (Waltz of the Flowers),” directed by ballerina Suzanne Farrell with assistance from Kristen Gallagher and Michael Cook.
Helanius J. Wilkins, chair of the School of Dance, said: “We are very excited to highlight the incredible talent and extraordinary work of our faculty, guest artists and students this year. This eclectic program showcases the creative voices of our distinguished faculty and guest artists and is a dynamic reflection of the excellence, innovation and artistry that have earned the School of Dance its national reputation as one of the premier university dance programs in the country.”
Each evening will include a pre-show discussion led by choreographers and rehearsal directors.
