Florida State University’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship held its annual “5 Under 30” event on February 19 at the Jim Moran Building in downtown Tallahassee. The event, which was previously known as “7 Under 30,” highlighted five young entrepreneurs who started their own businesses before turning 30.

The program was open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the Tallahassee community. Attendees listened to the honorees share stories about starting their ventures, overcoming challenges, and lessons learned along the way.

Josh Orlinsky, Chairman and Global Chief Executive Officer of Equiturn Holdings, delivered a keynote address and moderated a panel discussion with the honorees. He referenced his experience in private capital and strategic advisory roles and noted Equiturn’s top ranking on the Seminole 100 list for consecutive years. Orlinsky then led a conversation with the five entrepreneurs.

During the event, each speaker discussed their business journey and participated in an open Q&A session. Audience members had opportunities to ask questions about industries including finance, marketing, lifestyle brands, media production, and outdoor recreation.

This year’s honorees included:

Abbie Garcia Tunon is the founder of GT Stitchery, an embroidery and gifting company based in Miami. She started her business after arriving at FSU on a swimming scholarship and has since expanded her brand locally and internationally.

Gabriel Curtis is CEO and founder of Insight Studios Productions, LLC. A former FSU athlete in cross country and track and field, Curtis launched his marketing and video production company while still a student. His firm now works with national brands as well as nonprofit organizations.

Nile Lawrence-Stample is president of NLS Cleaning. After playing football for FSU—including being part of the 2014 National Championship team—he founded his cleaning company offering residential and commercial pressure washing services in South Florida.

Megan Lore is founder and CEO of Muracha Match South as well as Match South. With experience in influencer marketing and brand development, she created Match South—a gifting business inspired by vintage matchbooks—and is preparing to launch Muracha, a premium Japanese matcha brand.

Josh O’Conner is founder of RennWorks Outdoors. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from FSU in accounting. After working at Deloitte Tax as a CPA, he established his outdoor business in 2018. O’Conner collaborates with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on sustainable fishing regulations.

The event provided attendees with direct access to young leaders across various sectors who have translated ideas into successful ventures before age 30.
