Florida State University Libraries has announced it will adopt the TIND Digital Archive as its new digital library platform. This decision comes after a thorough procurement review process aimed at upgrading the FSU Digital Library, which currently offers access to more than 125,000 cultural heritage items for faculty, students, and researchers.
The transition to TIND is intended to improve user experience and enhance how users discover the university’s growing digital collections. By utilizing TIND’s management tools, FSU Libraries aims to support long-term growth and make digital resources more accessible.
Katie McCormick, associate dean of Special Collections & Archives, stated: “The FSU Digital Library is a research gateway to the unique collections stewarded by FSU and its partners. With the selection of TIND as our new platform, we’re excited to more seamlessly connect students, faculty and community members to these incredible collections.”
The FSU Digital Library is managed by Special Collections & Archives (SCA) and includes a wide range of materials such as cuneiform tablets, handwritten manuscripts, and recent university publications. The repository features contributions from both internal partners like the Warren D. Allen Music Library and John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Archives, as well as external organizations including the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee and the Havana History and Heritage Society.
Krystal Thomas, director of Digital Archives for SCA, commented on the selection process: “During our review process, we were very impressed with TIND as an option for our cultural heritage materials in our repository. It provides an excellent, user-friendly experience to access our materials, along with object-level and collection-specific tools that we and our partners see as opportunities to better organize, manage, and brand our collections for end users.”
FSU Libraries plans to provide updates about the migration process and announce the official launch date for the new platform on their blog in coming months. More information about FSU Libraries can be found at https://lib.fsu.edu.
