Florida State University’s College of Fine Arts and the Department of Art Education will launch a fully online Master of Arts in arts administration beginning in fall 2026. The new program aims to serve working professionals seeking to advance their careers in fields such as museums, orchestras, theaters, and other arts institutions both within Florida and internationally.

FSU has a long history in the discipline, being home to the oldest arts administration program in the United States. The online format is designed for flexibility, allowing students to continue their current professional roles while pursuing graduate education. Coursework will include collaboration with FSU’s Askew School of Public Administration and Policy and access to various arts programs at the university.

“The online MA in arts administration is designed to serve the rising generation of leaders in the arts no matter where they are, helping them reach the next level in their professions and advancing the skills they need to make a strong and lasting impact on the industry and in their communities,” said Trevor Meagher, assistant professor and director of the new program. “We’re incredibly excited to welcome our first cohort of online arts administration master’s students this fall.”

The curriculum covers topics such as cultural policy, development and grant writing, leadership, financial management, among others. This interdisciplinary approach aims to equip students with skills relevant for future leadership roles in the arts sector.

Applications for admission are now open. Prospective students are encouraged to apply by February 1, 2026. Additional information about this program can be found at arted.fsu.edu/programs.
