Florida State University will host its third annual Horizons Unlimited Conference on March 3, 2026, focusing on the achievements and support of first-generation college students. The event is led by FSU First Lady Jai Vartikar and aims to provide resources, strategies, and networking opportunities for student success.

The conference includes a Student Resource Expo from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Turnbull Conference Center, where campus organizations and community members will present information about academic support, personal development, and career advancement. A networking lunch titled “Table Talk” will offer students the chance to engage in discussions with university professionals.

A session called “Success through Adversity: Strategies through Athletics” will feature student-athletes and coaches discussing overcoming challenges in sports and life. Another session, “Building Your Professional Brand,” led by Dr. Jason Harle with Assistant Vice President for Career Services Rob Lidell and senior Ja’nasia Mangum, will address job readiness skills.

Dr. Laymon Hicks, an FSU alumnus and former Student Body President, will conduct a workshop encouraging students to transform setbacks into growth opportunities.

The keynote address is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Board of Trustees Chairman Peter Collins will share his experiences as a first-generation college student and leader. The event opens with remarks from First Lady Jai Vartikar alongside students Margeda Eugene, Justin Mohabir, and Duce Robinson. Coach Norvell will introduce Collins for the keynote address.

President Richard McCullough will moderate a fireside chat with Collins before opening the floor for audience questions.

“Come and be empowered,” said Vartikar. “Your journey matters, your dreams can be achieved, and your horizons are truly unlimited.”

Registration is required for each session due to limited space.
