Florida State University’s Master of Science in Applied Economics program has joined the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) partner program. This move allows students in the program to pursue both their graduate degree and the Certified Business Economist (CBE) professional certification.

NABE is a prominent organization for business economists and professionals involved in applied economics. Founded in 1959, it connects experts from various sectors through conferences, educational opportunities, and networking events.

The CBE certification was created by NABE to set a standard for combining applied economics with data analytics. The credential signals to employers that candidates are well-prepared and committed to maintaining their expertise over time.

John Hamman, chair of the Department of Economics at Florida State University, said, “We’re thrilled to join as partners in NABE’s CBE program. Our STEM-designated twelve-month Master’s in Applied Economics Program gives students all of the tools needed to succeed as applied economists working with large datasets in today’s job market. The ability for them to add CBE certification to their degree will provide further evidence that our graduates enter the market as highly trained economic analysts.”

The Department of Economics is part of FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy and is its largest department. The master’s program prepares students for roles in government and private industry, maintains relationships with alumni, and works closely with leaders at state and local levels.
