Niche determines its rankings through a detailed analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education. Additional factors include acceptance rates, student-faculty ratio, graduation and retention rates, as well as surveys from criminal justice students and alumni.

In addition to its current ranking by Niche, Florida State’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice was named No. 1 in 2023 by University Magazine.
