Florida State University College of Law has been named the No. 1 Best Value Law School in the United States by preLaw Magazine. The ranking highlights FSU Law’s combination of academic quality, affordability, and strong career outcomes for graduates.

PreLaw Magazine assessed law schools using criteria such as tuition costs, cost of living, average student debt, bar passage rates, and employment rates. These factors are used to determine how well a law school prepares its graduates for professional success while keeping financial burdens manageable.

“Earning the top spot on preLaw’s Best Value list reflects a philosophy we’ve embraced for years: combine affordability with opportunity, and graduates will have the freedom to build the careers they truly want,” said Erin O’Hara O’Connor, dean of FSU College of Law. “Per dollar invested in their legal education, our students receive an unmatched return, both in quality of education and professional outcomes.”

FSU Law has not increased in-state tuition for 16 years, which demonstrates its commitment to accessibility and fiscal responsibility. Graduates from FSU Law have consistently achieved high pass rates on the Florida Bar exam and have found employment at prominent law firms, courts, and public institutions across the country.

The recognition from preLaw Magazine follows other recent achievements for FSU College of Law. In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, FSU Law was ranked No. 38 overall and No. 17 among public law schools. Additionally, The Princeton Review ranked FSU Law No. 4 in the nation for student quality of life and No. 6 for best professors.
