The Florida State University College of Law is set to host the first AI Day in the Capital on January 22. The event, organized by the Stoops Center for Law and Business in partnership with the Institute of Law, Technology, and Innovation, will begin at 9 a.m. and aims to bring together leaders from government, law, technology, and academia.
AI Day in the Capital will examine how artificial intelligence is being used within state and local systems. Discussions will focus on legal, policy, and ethical considerations that must adapt as AI becomes more prevalent. The program includes conversations, expert panels, and demonstrations to address responsible adoption of AI, transparency, workforce effects, access to justice, and public trust.
“AI is already reshaping how governments serve the public and how the law responds to innovation,” said Erin O’Hara O’Connor, dean of the FSU College of Law. “AI Day in the Capital creates an important forum for policymakers, scholars and practitioners to engage directly with these issues and to explore how AI can be deployed responsibly and in service of the public good.”
Amazon is sponsoring the event as part of a broader university initiative to draw expertise from various disciplines. Participants include representatives from national law firms, technology companies, different colleges at FSU, government officials, and industry experts nationwide.
Demonstrations during AI Day will show applications of artificial intelligence across FSU’s research areas such as health care, atmospheric science, and legal practice.
The event is free for all attendees. Continuing Legal Education credit is available for participants. Media members are invited; interviews with speakers or university leadership can be arranged upon request.
More information about registration and scheduling can be found on the AI Day in the Capital website.
