Florida State University announced on April 2 that it will celebrate Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week from April 6 to April 10. The week is dedicated to recognizing the contributions and achievements of graduate and professional students at the university.
The event underscores the important role these students play in advancing teaching, research, creative activity, and service at Florida State University. Throughout the week, students from various disciplines are invited to participate in events focused on recognition, professional development, wellness, and building community connections.
“Graduate and professional students are central to the mission and success of Florida State University,” said Steve McDowell, interim dean of The Graduate School. “This week is an opportunity to honor their accomplishments, support their goals and express our appreciation for the many ways they strengthen our campus.”
Events during the week include a Celebration of Graduate Student Excellence featuring keynote speaker Carrie Cooper; several financial wellness workshops; a digital symposium showcasing English department student projects; the Three Minute Thesis competition; career sessions for Ph.D. candidates interested in government research roles; dissertation planning support; faculty panels on academic job interviews; an art reception celebrating student achievement in visual arts; and an opening reception for an MFA graduating class exhibition.
The university encourages all graduate and professional students to attend these activities as part of its ongoing efforts to foster academic growth and community engagement.
