The Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series will return for its fifth year from February 6 to 15, 2026, at the Fort Mose Historic State Park in St. Augustine, Florida. The event will feature Grammy award-winning artists such as Gary Clark Jr., Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, Samara Joy, Robert Cray Band, Ruthie Foster, and Ledisi.
This annual series aims to celebrate not only music but also the historical significance of Fort Mose. Organizers highlight that “more than a concert series, Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series honors the Fort Mose’s profound legacy as the first legally sanctioned free African settlement in what is now the United States – offering audiences an immersive experience where history, community and music converge.”
Tickets for the series will be available starting Friday, November 21 at 10AM on DiscoverFortMose.com. Each ticket includes a charity fee that supports the Fort Mose Historical Society’s efforts to preserve and promote the site’s history.
The lineup begins on February 6 with Ledisi performing at 7:00 PM. On February 7, Gary Clark Jr. will take the stage. February 13 features both Robert Cray Band and Ruthie Foster. Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble are scheduled for February 14. The series concludes on February 15 with Samara Joy.
Since its inception in 2022, the series has worked to raise awareness about Fort Mose’s role in American history and support ongoing projects by the Fort Mose Historical Society. In May 2025, these efforts led to a reconstruction of a representation of Fort Mose.
Fort Mose holds historical importance as it was established in 1738 by Africans seeking freedom from English enslavement during European conflicts in North America. By combining influences from Native American, Spanish, and English cultures, its early residents formed a unique community. The site was designated as a Historic National Landmark in 1994.
The event is produced by SJC Cultural Events, Inc., which also manages venues like The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. Support comes from organizations including St. Johns County Tourist Development Council, City of St. Augustine, Florida State Parks Foundation, and others.
