Florida State University will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Legacy Hall, the new home of its College of Business, on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and is open to the public at 402 W. Gaines St., with the ceremony taking place at the ground floor west entrance near Gaines and S. Macomb streets.
Attendees will include FSU Board of Trustees Chair Peter Collins, FSU President Richard McCullough, and College of Business Dean Michael D. Hartline. After the ceremony, tours of Legacy Hall will be available until 5 p.m. Parking options include the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, Turnbull Conference Center, and metered spaces around the building.
Classes in Legacy Hall are set to begin on Jan. 7, coinciding with the start of FSU’s spring semester.
At 220,000 square feet, Legacy Hall is now the largest academic facility in Florida State University’s history. The building includes modern classrooms and collaborative spaces designed for faculty members, students, and industry partners to interact and support student career development in business.
Construction began in October 2022 after a long effort to secure funding for a new facility. The College of Business has outgrown its previous locations—the Rovetta Business Building from 1958 and its annex added in 1984—and expects enrollment to surpass 10,000 students this spring semester.
University officials attribute the completion of Legacy Hall to contributions from alumni, supporters, current and former administrators, as well as assistance from the State of Florida.
