A Florida State University student, Ramzi Rosario, has been named the first recipient of the Thamesh Ramjit Student Philanthropist of the Year Award by the FSU Student Foundation. The award was presented at the 2025 Philanthropy Gala and is named in memory of foundation member Thamesh Ramjit, who died last spring.
Yasamin Khosh, chair of the foundation for 2025, explained the significance of the new award: “Thamesh truly embodied the spirit of philanthropy on our team, and we wanted a lasting way to honor him. Ramzi’s philanthropic commitment around campus represents exactly what we were looking for when selecting the inaugural recipient of this award.”
Rosario has played a significant role in philanthropic efforts through his involvement with Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Interfraternity Council. He contributed to five initiatives that raised over $50,000 for organizations such as Collegiate Veterans Association and Service for Sight. In addition to these efforts, he is a member of the University Honors Program, an FSU Service Scholar, and has received the 21 Under 21 Philanthropy Award.
Reflecting on his approach to giving back, Rosario stated: “To me, philanthropy is a duty, passion and it’s a way of living. I want to change how people see giving. It isn’t just money. It’s time, energy, skills and platforms. I want to show students that philanthropy can be successful and enjoyable, something everyone can be a part of, not just those who can write large checks.”
Rosario is studying commercial entrepreneurship at FSU’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship with plans to graduate in Spring 2027.
Outside campus activities, Rosario has volunteered hundreds of hours with organizations including Boys Town of North Florida, Engage TLH and Best Buddies. His efforts focus on using entrepreneurship and leadership for positive impact.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Student Philanthropist of the Year Award, and I will continue to strive to make service a cornerstone of my personal and professional journey,” said Rosario. “I want my mark to be that I helped shift the culture — proving that generosity can be a daily habit, not just a line on a resume. Generosity isn’t just a moment. It’s a mindset.”
