Florida State University’s Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) received 26 awards from the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association (SGLA), highlighting achievements across its four governing councils.
The Multicultural Greek Council at FSU was named Multicultural Greek Council of the Year. The Panhellenic Association won the Dr. Lori Hart College Panhellenic Council of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
The Interfraternity Council earned the Council Impact Award, along with certificates recognizing efforts in academic enhancement and community relations. The Multicultural Greek Council also received the Community Cultivation Award and five certificates, which included honors for strategic branding and educational programming.
FSU’s National Pan-Hellenic Council was recognized with both the Community Cultivation Award and Operational Excellence Award, as well as certificates for leadership development and academic enhancement. The Panhellenic Association collected additional honors: “the Community Cultivation Award, the Operational Excellence Award and the Council Impact Award. In addition, they received seven certificates, including honors for Leadership Development, Strategic Branding, Campus and Community Relations and Academic Enhancement as a council.”
Individual student leaders were recognized by SGLA. Josh Benalcazar, IFC executive vice president, and Alexis Brendel, PHA vice president of public relations, took first place in the Order of Omega Case Study Competition.
Leadership roles within SGLA were filled by FSU students as well. Kate Eason finished her term as president of the 2025 SGLA Student Advisory Board, while Liliana Salazar-Juarez was elected to serve on the board in 2026. Freddy Juarez served as associate executive director of SGLA.
