Florida State Parks will host First Day Hikes on January 1, 2026, encouraging the public to begin the new year with outdoor activities. The event offers both guided and self-guided hikes across beaches, forests, springs, and wetlands in participating parks. Trail options vary from easy walks to more challenging routes. Those who join will receive a First Day Hikes sticker while supplies last.
Chuck Hatcher, Director of Florida State Parks, stated: “Florida’s state parks offer something for everyone, and First Day Hikes are a perfect introduction. You can meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts on guided hikes or find your own path on self-guided trails. Starting the year here is a simple way to connect with nature and create lasting memories.”
Participants can choose their own pace for hiking. Trail maps are available at ranger stations or online to help visitors plan their trips individually or in groups.
The state features 175 award-winning parks and over 3,000 miles of multi-use trails that provide opportunities for recreation throughout the year. Annual passes are available for individuals and families, offering unlimited entry and discounts for veterans and foster families.
