Florida’s high school graduation rate has reached a new record, according to an announcement made by Governor Ron DeSantis during the State of the State address. For the 2024-25 school year, 92.2% of Florida students graduated, representing the highest rate in the state’s history. This figure is a 2.5 percentage point increase over the previous year and a total rise of 4.9 percentage points since the 2021-22 academic year.
Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas commented on this milestone: “Florida’s historic graduation rate reflects the power of Governor DeSantis’ strong leadership, clear expectations, and unwavering commitment to student success,” he said. “These achievements demonstrate what can be accomplished when we uphold rigorous standards, provide robust support to schools and prepare every student for success beyond graduation.”
The improvement comes amid policies that have focused on raising academic standards, enhancing accountability measures, supporting parental rights, and expanding educational options across Florida. The state attributes its progress to these initiatives and emphasizes its ongoing efforts to ensure students are prepared for further education or careers after high school.
