Florida marked Lineworker Appreciation Day on August 26, 2025, recognizing the essential role of lineworkers in maintaining and restoring power across the state. The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) highlighted the dedication and expertise of these workers.
“As Florida continues to strengthen its energy grid and storm readiness, we must remember that lineworkers are the frontline heroes keeping power safe and reliable,” said FPSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. “We are grateful every day for the men and women who risk their lives to ensure Floridians have the essential service of electricity.”
Lineworkers in Florida are trained to work under hazardous conditions such as storms with high winds and heavy rain. Their responsibilities often require them to travel outside their communities, assisting with power restoration efforts after major disasters in other regions. Across the United States, lineworkers help maintain more than 5.5 million miles of distribution lines supplying electricity to homes and businesses.
The state legislature established Lineworker Appreciation Day in 2012 through a resolution by the Florida House of Representatives to honor those who risk their safety daily for reliable electric service.
