The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) has finished a nine-day hearing to review Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request for new rates and a proposed settlement agreement. The hearing included expert testimony, cross-examination, and analysis of both FPL’s original rate proposal and the settlement terms.
The process was divided into two phases. Intervenors were able to question witnesses about both the initial petition from FPL and the details of the proposed settlement. The settlement was negotiated between FPL and a group of organizations and companies, including The Florida Industrial Power Users Group, Florida Retail Federation, Florida Energy for Innovation Association, Walmart Inc., EVgo Services, Americans for Affordable Clean Energy, Circle K, RaceTrac, Wawa, Electrify America, Federal Executive Agencies, Armstrong World Industries, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
The parties involved will be able to submit post-hearing briefs as their final arguments. These briefs will address the evidence presented throughout the hearing.
The FPSC plans to hold a Special Commission Conference on November 20, 2025. At this meeting, commissioners will discuss the proposed settlement agreement and consider all evidence from the hearing.
