Florida A&M University announced on March 31 that it will be the first institution visited by the national Google Gemini campus tour, scheduled for April 1–2 on Paddyfoote Lawn.

The event marks the start of STEM Week at Florida A&M University and will introduce campuswide access to Google Workspace after the visit. The initiative aims to provide students and faculty with collaborative digital tools that support teaching, learning, and academic productivity across disciplines.

Allyson L. Watson, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said, “Serving as the first institution to launch this national campus tour reflects Florida A&M University’s continued commitment to preparing students to engage thoughtfully and confidently with emerging technologies. Expanding access to Google Workspace across our campus community strengthens collaboration and supports innovation in teaching and learning across disciplines.”

The two-day event is organized by the Division of Academic Affairs as part of a broader effort to enhance digital readiness among students. Activities include product demonstrations, interactive sessions with Google representatives about artificial intelligence tools, snacks, giveaways, and a survey on student experiences with AI. The first 100 participants in the survey will receive an exclusive Owala bottle while supplies last.

Lewis Johnson, Ph.D., associate provost for strategic initiatives, said: “This engagement represents a strategic effort to position our students and faculty at the forefront of generative AI tools in higher education.” He added: “Launching Google Workspace with Gemini and NotebookLM for the entire campus community alongside this national tour stop expands opportunities for collaboration, productivity, and innovation while strengthening the University’s technology ecosystem in support of student success.”

Following the event, all FAMU students, faculty, and staff will have expanded access to Google Workspace tools designed to facilitate communication and coursework collaboration.
