Florida A&M University announced on Mar. 20 that Thasunda Brown Duckett, president and CEO of TIAA, and FAMU alumnus Omar Goff, End-to-End Commercial Leader for Head & Shoulders North America, will serve as keynote speakers for the university’s Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremonies. Duckett is scheduled to speak at the ceremony on Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m., while Goff will address graduates during two ceremonies on Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. All events will be held at the Alfred Lawson Center and Multipurpose Teaching Gymnasium in Tallahassee.

The announcement highlights the significance of commencement as a milestone event for students and their families. Approximately 1,500 students from FAMU’s fourteen schools and colleges are expected to receive their degrees during these ceremonies.

FAMU President Marva B. Johnson said, “Commencement stands as one of the most meaningful traditions in the life of our university— a moment where reflection, pride, and boundless possibility come together on the Highest of Seven Hills. Florida A&M University is truly honored to welcome two extraordinary leaders, Thasunda Brown Duckett and Omar Goff, to join us in celebrating this milestone with our graduates.” Johnson added that Duckett’s career exemplifies expanding access to financial opportunity while Goff’s achievements demonstrate what is possible when purpose meets education.

Duckett leads TIAA with a focus on financial inclusion and has expanded its mission beyond higher education to all Americans saving for retirement. Before joining TIAA in 2021, she held executive roles at JPMorganChase and was director of Emerging Markets at Fannie Mae. She serves on several boards including NIKE and Sesame Workshop, has received numerous accolades such as being named among TIME100 Most Influential People in the World, and holds honorary degrees from multiple universities.

Goff is recognized for his leadership in brand building and innovation within major companies like Procter & Gamble. He previously served as president of Mielle where he led significant growth initiatives including national campaigns and partnerships with organizations such as the Women’s National Basketball Association and National Football League. Goff graduated Summa Cum Laude from FAMU’s School of Business and Industry.

The ceremonies will be live-streamed via FAMU Facebook and YouTube channels for those unable to attend in person.
