Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has named four new members to the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Board of Trustees. The appointees—Victor Young, Prerak “Pre” Shah, Roderick Harris, and Kenneth Jones—will serve five-year terms beginning in January 2026.
President Marva B. Johnson, J.D., commented on the appointments: “It is an honor to welcome these distinguished leaders to the FAMU Board of Trustees. Their outstanding backgrounds in law, business and healthcare will bring added value to our existing board acumen as we work together to lead FAMU forward throughout the coming years.”
Victor Young is managing partner at Morgan Auto Group (MAG), recognized as Florida’s largest automotive dealer group and among the top ten nationwide by revenue. Young’s experience also includes work with Digital Caviar, a film production company, and involvement in community initiatives such as founding Sarasota Metropolis FC—a soccer team that donates part of its profits to cancer research while mentoring youth athletes. He has held positions on several civic boards and currently serves as vice chairman of the Moffitt Medical Group at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Prerak “Pre” Shah is a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Houston. He advises clients on complex investigations and civil litigation cases intersecting law and public policy. Shah previously served as acting United States attorney for the Northern District of Texas, leading prosecutions related to securities fraud, terrorism, and violent crime. His background also includes roles as chief counsel for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz and senior counsel to the Texas attorney general.
Roderick Harris leads system innovation efforts at the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, focusing on performance measures across department programs aimed at improving outcomes for youth and families through data-driven decisions. Harris has worked in data analytics for Five Point Technology Group and Northwest Florida Health Network, with earlier service supporting court improvement initiatives. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from FAMU.
Kenneth Jones is CEO of HCA Florida Northwest Hospital in Margate and serves on the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund Board. With nearly two decades in hospital administration across several states—including leadership roles at AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital—Jones brings experience in clinical operations management. He earned his undergraduate degree from FAMU before completing graduate studies at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
The new trustees replace outgoing members Kristin Harper, Craig Reed, Belvin Perry Jr., and Jocelyn Dopson-Rodriguez following their completed terms.
