Florida A&M University’s Essential Theatre is set to present “Echoes of the Heart: A Musical Revue,” a production that explores themes of love, loss, and connection through music and storytelling. The show was conceived by Ryan Pettaway and is directed by Jae Edwards.
The musical revue aims to blend music and narrative to reflect shared emotional experiences, highlighting the creative talents of FAMU student performers. According to the university, this approach reinforces Essential Theatre’s focus on impactful storytelling.
“This production creates space for audiences to reflect on their own emotional journeys through music,” said Jae Edwards, director of Echoes of the Heart. “Each piece speaks to moments of the heart that are both deeply personal and universally shared.”
Performances will be held from February 25 through March 1 at the Charles Winter Wood Theatre. The format allows performers to engage directly with audiences using song, movement, and spoken word.
Midweek shows are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m., with tickets priced at $20 for adults; $15 for senior citizens, FAMU employees, and military members with valid identification; $8 for non-FAMU students and children aged 4–18; and $5 for FAMU students with valid identification.
Weekend performances include Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Weekend ticket prices are $30 for adults; $25 for senior citizens age 62 or older, FAMU employees, and military members with ID; $10 for non-FAMU students and children ages 4–18; and $5 for FAMU students with ID.
