Emmy Award-winning journalist Jacque Reid will serve as the Hearst Visiting Guest Lecturer at Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) for the spring 2026 semester. Reid is set to lead a four-part masterclass series titled “How to Be an Independent Journalist,” designed for junior and senior students.
According to SJGC Dean Mira Lowe, “We are proud to have our students benefit from the talent and passion that Jacque brings to every project she takes on. As we continue to experience shifts in the industry and advancements in how news and information are presented, it is critical that we equip our students with the tools they need to thrive.”
Reid has a national profile as a media personality, executive, and content creator. Her background includes work with NBC, CNN, ABC, BET, and “The Tom Joyner Morning Show.” She also hosts “The Jacque Reid Experience” podcast, co-hosts “Reid This Reid That” with journalist Joy-Ann Reid, and leads Vegan Sexy Cool, a brand focused on vegan lifestyle content.
Her masterclass will offer students insights into independent journalism through behind-the-scenes perspectives and live discussions with notable figures in news and media. Students who complete the series will receive a certificate and become eligible for summer internships.
Founded in 1982, SJGC was the first program at a historically Black college or university to achieve national accreditation. The school emphasizes academic achievement, hands-on learning experiences, and innovation in preparing students for careers in media.
The William Hearst Professorship program supports these efforts by bringing experienced professionals like Reid onto campus to mentor students directly.
