The Duke Energy Foundation has announced the launch of its America250 grant program, inviting nonprofit organizations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida to apply for funding. The initiative is part of a more than $1 million investment aimed at supporting community projects that empower veterans, enhance green spaces, and expand access to history and civics education.

Grants will range from $5,000 to $20,000. The request for proposals opens on January 12 and will fund projects that demonstrate local impact and align with the Foundation’s America250 core themes. These themes include workforce development programs for veterans transitioning to civilian careers; local history projects such as public exhibits or preservation of historic sites; educational programming or field trips celebrating America’s founding; and community cleanups or improvements to shared green spaces.

“America250 is more than a milestone – it’s an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, recognize the contributions of all Americans and support the next generation through community-led projects,” said Loree Elswick, president of the Duke Energy Foundation. “Our investment is focused on uplifting the places and people that shape our communities.”

Qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Duke Energy communities are eligible to apply. Governmental entities are not eligible for this grant funding. Each organization may submit one application during the window from January 12 through February 20.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support for communities where Duke Energy customers live and work. The Foundation is funded by shareholders of Duke Energy.
