Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $40 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP) to expand workforce education programs in Florida. The funding aims to enhance 49 programs across the state, resulting in a reported 59 percent increase in workforce capacity for these initiatives.
With this latest round of funding, total state investment in workforce education under Workforce CAP has reached $240 million since its start in 2023. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prepare students for roles in industries that are currently experiencing high demand within Florida.
“Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success,” said Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas. “This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
The Workforce CAP program supports both new and existing career and technical education offerings at high schools and postsecondary institutions. These grants provide hands-on training designed to help students earn industry-recognized certifications and meet the needs of employers throughout Florida.
According to information from the department, Workforce CAP funds will ensure more students have access to resources needed for careers in emerging fields as well as established sectors with growing job opportunities.
Details about how institutions can apply for future grant rounds are available on the official CAP Grant page of the Florida Department of Education website.
