The City of Tallahassee has announced changes to its services in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Administrative offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27-28.

Garbage, recycling, bulky items, and yard waste collection for residents within city limits will shift by one day later than usual during the week of November 23-29. Residents are advised to place their bins behind the curb the night before their adjusted service day and return them to their homes no later than the day after collection. Bulky items and yard waste should not be placed out earlier than the weekend before pickup. Additional information about specific collection dates is available at Talgov.com.

StarMetro, Tallahassee’s public transit system, will suspend all fixed route and Dial-A-Ride services on Thursday, November 27. On Friday, November 28, fixed route service will operate on a Sunday schedule without night service. Dial-A-Ride will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and StarMetro’s Call Center will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Animal Service Center will also close on Thursday and Friday for the holiday but will reopen Saturday, November 29. The center opens at 10 a.m. for appointments with walk-ins accepted from 1-5 p.m. Emergency animal control services remain available via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at 850-606-5800 during the closure period.

City-run community centers managed by Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs will close from Thursday through Saturday (November 27-29), resuming normal operations on Monday, December 1.

“Customers are encouraged to set their collection bins behind the curb the night before their service day. Both containers must be returned to the home no later than the day after collection. Bulky items and yard waste should be placed behind the curb no earlier than the weekend before your collection day,” according to city guidance.
