The City of Tallahassee has announced changes to several municipal services in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 1. Administrative offices will be closed for the day.

Solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, designated as red week customers, will see their collection services delayed by one day during the week of August 31 through September 6. This includes garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky item pickups. Residents are advised to place garbage and recycling containers at the curb the evening before their adjusted collection day and return them no later than the following day. Bulky items and yard waste should be placed behind the curb no earlier than the weekend before scheduled pickup. Collection dates for specific addresses can be found at Talgov.com.

StarMetro, Tallahassee’s mass transit system, will adjust its operations on Monday, September 1. Fixed routes will follow a Sunday schedule with no night service. Dial-A-Ride will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the StarMetro call center will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. More information is available at Talgov.com/StarMetro.

The Animal Service Center will close on Monday, September 1, resuming normal hours on Tuesday, September 2, with appointments starting at 10 a.m. Customers seeking details about adoptable animals or wishing to report lost or found pets can visit Talgov.com/Animals or contact the center directly. City Animal Control services will be limited to emergencies only on Labor Day and can be reached through the Consolidated Dispatch Agency.

Community centers managed by the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will also close on Labor Day and reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, September 2. Information about community centers is available at Talgov.com/Parks.

For further questions regarding solid waste collection schedules or other city services during the holiday week, residents may call relevant city departments using contact numbers provided on Talgov.com.
