The City of Tallahassee has announced changes to its services in observance of the Christmas holiday. Administrative offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 25-26.

Solid waste collection schedules for residents within city limits will shift during the week of December 21-27. Some customers will have their garbage, recycling, bulky items, and yard waste collected one day later than usual. Residents are advised to place bins behind the curb the night before their scheduled collection day and return them no later than the day after service. Bulky items and yard waste should be set out no earlier than the weekend before collection. Additional information on specific addresses can be found at Talgov.com.

StarMetro, the city’s public transit system, will adjust its operations for the holiday period. On Christmas Eve (December 24), fixed routes will follow a Sunday schedule with no night service; Dial-A-Ride will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Call Center will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be no fixed route or Dial-A-Ride service on Christmas Day (December 25), and the Call Center will also be closed that day. Regular schedules resume on December 26 with all services operating as usual.

The Animal Service Center is set to close at 2 p.m. on December 24 and remain closed through December 26. For more details about animal adoption or reporting lost pets, residents can visit Talgov.com/Animals. Animal Control services will only respond to emergencies after 3 p.m. on December 24 and throughout December 25-26 via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency.

City-run community centers under Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will also be closed on December 25-26.

For further information about these schedule changes or available services during this period, residents are encouraged to visit Talgov.com or contact relevant departments by phone.
