The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will recognize the work of local first responders by offering them free admission on September 12. The event, called First Responders Day, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the zoo’s location in Sanford.
First responders eligible for free admission include law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMT/paramedics. Proof of employment is required to receive the offer, which must be claimed at the gate on the day of the event. Tickets are not available online.
Special activities are planned for guests during the morning hours. Local agencies such as the Sanford Fire Department and Seminole County Fire Department will bring fire engines and trucks between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with crews distributing items for children. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will also participate, providing sticker badges and equipment displays.
“The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will honor the courage and dedication of local heroes with First Responders Day on September 12.”
The zoo houses more than 350 animals and operates as a not-for-profit organization focused on conservation efforts in central Florida. More information about the event can be found at https://www.centralfloridazoo.org/event/honoring-first-responders/.
