The U.S. Census Bureau will release national statistics on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage for 2024 at an online news conference scheduled for September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT. The event will feature the findings from three reports: “Income in the United States: 2024,” “Poverty in the United States: 2024,” and “Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024.” These reports are based on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

The upcoming reports will provide annual estimates of income, earnings, and inequality to help evaluate economic trends and their impact on households, families, and individuals across the country. They will also include official poverty rates as well as Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) estimates to assess economic well-being. In addition, national-level health insurance coverage statistics will be released to show coverage trends and examine status by select characteristics.

A question-and-answer session is planned immediately after the presentation. The panel includes David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch at the Public Information Office who will serve as moderator.

The Census Bureau intends to post all related reports, data tables, and a news release to its Income, Poverty and Health Insurance press kit online shortly after the news conference begins. Members of the media can participate in the Webex-based event using details provided by the agency (https://uscensusevents.webex.com/uscensusevents/j.php?MTID=m7e0f0fe492f905f5dbb5b500a6a5fcf7). Audio access is available via phone at 888-566-5791 with passcode 1732236.
