Car dealer Alan Jay Wildstein has purchased a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $26 million, acquiring the property at a significant discount from its initial listing price.
According to property records, Wildstein bought the 10,700-square-foot residence located at 2406 Laguna Drive from Matthew and Lorena Roos. The transaction included $20.5 million in seller financing. This sale price equates to $1,916 per square foot.
The sellers had listed the mansion for $36.3 million on November 24 and sold it the next day with a $10.3 million reduction, as shown on Zillow. Marc Brandt and Jeffery Kotwica of Douglas Elliman represented the listing, while Melissa Barragan of Dezer Platinum Realty represented the buyer.
Wildstein leads Alan Jay Automotive Network, which is based in Sebring and operates dealerships throughout Central Florida. His family also owns Tropical Chevrolet in Miami Shores.
Wildstein has been active in South Florida’s luxury real estate market. In 2022, he acquired a unit at Gil Dezer’s Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach for $14.4 million and sold another unit there for $6.5 million that same year. In 2021, he sold another waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale for $7.5 million.
Seller Matthew Roos holds ownership stakes in several businesses registered in Florida: M & L Investment Management, M & L Expeditions, and M & L Aero Sales & Leasing. Recently, the Rooses purchased another waterfront home at 2542 Laguna Drive for $7.6 million.
The Rooses originally acquired the 0.3-acre site at 2406 Laguna Drive for $4.9 million in 2018 before constructing the five-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion there in 2021. The property features a pool and dock.
This sale continues a trend of high-value luxury transactions as Fort Lauderdale enters its busy season after a slower summer period marked by fewer deals. In August, retired racing driver Michael Andretti purchased a large waterfront estate from Patrick K. Willis for $27.4 million.
In addition, last year financier Donald Sussman set a new single-family price record for Broward County by selling his Fort Lauderdale compound for $70 million.
